Though the Longboat Trolley runs through most of the year, a change has been made to the holiday service schedule. Thanksgiving and Christmas Day will be the only days of the year that the Longboat Trolley does NOT operate.More information…Speaking of SCAT, the agency now has its BRT project information online at their website.

My input for the proposed changes
Route 1 – Modifying Route 1, which traverses Florida Avenue, will bring it closer to that “Golden Rule” of public transit. Again, meeting that “rule” allows passengers to not even need a schedule when trying to figure out when the next bus arrives. Larger cities, such as New York, have had buses that run everyContinueContinue reading “My input for the proposed changes”

Changes coming to PSTA
Note: The original links to the PSTA website no longer work. I’ve posted a link to the Tampa Bay Newspapers Weekly site, which has an archived article on these changes. Route 22 – which was merged into Route 1, was restored in 2015 after Route 1 was axed due to being the lowest ridership route inContinueContinue reading “Changes coming to PSTA”
Route 19 Late-Night Service
Service Expansion. The other night, I rode the Route 19 from Britton Plaza to almost Port Tampa. I must say, that even for the 10:00 hour, ridership was fairly modest. Seven people onboard (myself included) to be exact. I’m willing to bet that when the bus made its rounds from downtown to Tampa General Hospital,ContinueContinue reading “Route 19 Late-Night Service”
HART rolls out repainted buses for local routes amid reporting record ridership levels.
Some of you may have noticed in recent weeks that many of HART’s buses look like they’re literally going to the dogs. Especially in respects to the exterior paint being scratched away in some areas.Rest assured; the entire fleet is in good hands. In fact, a couple buses rolled out this week with a freshContinueContinue reading “HART rolls out repainted buses for local routes amid reporting record ridership levels.”
HART service change proposals for 2008 – first revision
HART has recently revised its proposals for service adjustments for next year, based on public input. Because South Tampa services matter the most to me, I will first highlight those changes. According to the HART website, changes/eliminations to Route 89 are no longer being considered. Why? It’s quite obvious really…the handful of low income patronsContinueContinue reading “HART service change proposals for 2008 – first revision”

Well people, sweeping changes are coming… According to HART’s website, such changes will include increasing the base fare for regular bus service by 25 cents toContinueContinue reading “HART to make sweeping changes in the fall”
