July 4, 2017 Holiday Services

Independence Day will be on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. For Monday, July 3, 2017, most transit agencies will operate normal weekday services. However, you should contact your respective agency just to make sure there are no service exceptions. For Tuesday, July 4, 2017, most transit agencies will operate limited to no services. As always, please keep this in mind as you plan your holiday festivities and make alternate arrangements if possible. In some municipalities, transit agencies may provide modified services to assist with getting people to and from Independence Day events such as evening firework displays.


Service Schedule Status

Service Exceptions and Notes

Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) may detour some Downtown Tampa/Channelside bus routes due to evening firework displays. The TECOline Streetcar will operate until 12-midnight to help people get to and from area parking facilities. For the latest information, please visit www.gohart.org.

Some trolleybus routes (Pinellas County) may operate on a schedule other than a Sunday schedule. Please check psta.net for details.

Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) may detour some Downtown Norfolk bus routes due to evening firework displays. The Tide Light Rail, though operating on a Saturday schedule, may be modified to help people get to and from Park-N-Ride lots along the line. The Elizabeth River Ferry will run modified services through 12-midnight to help people get to and from the firework displays. For the latest information, please visit www.gohrt.com.

Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT) bus routes will not operate, except for the Anna Maria and Beach Express Trolleys. Schedules can be obtained at www.ridemcat.org.

Volusia County Transit (Votran) will operate a modified holiday schedule. Since SunRail will not be operating on July 4, neither will the SunRail Feeder bus routes – 31, 32, and 33. Please read the following from the Votran website carefully:

  • West Volusia routes 22, 24 and 60 will not operate.
  • Route 20 will operate every two hours beginning with the 7:19 a.m. southbound trip at Wal-Mart. The Amelia Ave SuperStop will not be served.
  • Northbound trips will depart Market Place every two hours from 8:25 a.m. to 4:25 p.m.
  • Routes 21 and 23 will operate on a Saturday schedule.
  • East Volusia routes 1, 3, 4, 10, 15 and 17 will operate on the Sunday schedule from the Intermodal Transit Facility in Daytona Beach.
  • Southeast Routes 40 and 41 will operate every two hours. Route 40 will not serve Swallowtail Drive and Village Trail.
    • The first Route 40 southbound trip will depart Dunlawton Avenue and U.S. 1 at 6:30 a.m.
      • Northbound trips will depart Julia and Sams transfer point every two hours from 7:46 a.m. through 5:46 p.m.
    • The first Route 41 southbound trip will depart Julia and Sams at 6:46 a.m.
      • Regular trips will depart every two hours from 8:46 a.m. through 4:46 p.m.
      • The 2:56 p.m. trip departing Julia and Sams will be the only trip serving Oak Hill.
  • All other routes and New Smyrna Beach Flex service will not operate.
  • Votran Gold will run a limited schedule and times to coincide with the July 4 fixed-route service.
  • For Votran Gold service changes, contact the Votran Call Center.

Key West Transit’s Red and Orange Routes will not operate. However, the Green and Blue Routes, as well as the Purple (Lower Keys Shuttle) Route will operate modified schedules to allow customers to attend evening fireworks displays. Please see the links below for additional information.

Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) are available throughout the following locations for customer convenience.

  • HART (Tampa, FL): All major transit centers.
  • HRT (Norfolk/Hampton, VA): Along the Tide LRT corridor in Norfolk, as well as at HRT transit centers, the High St Ferry station, and at select (summer) locations along the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

Normal Transit Service Resumption

Regular weekday transit services will resume on Wednesday, June 5, 2017.
