Find out what’s in store next!
Some of you may have noticed some sizeable updates being made to the GTG website during the past few weeks. I’ve finally been able to make updates to route listings, fare information, & photo galleries, as well as add a small new section about a transit agency that I’ve long-wanted to cover at a slightly deeper depth. Additionally, I want to use this post to help spread the word about something that was just formally announced by one of the transit agencies that I cover (if you use this particular agency regularly, then you’ll love the announcement)! So without further ado, let’s get right into it!

HART shifts to Transit App

The number of transit agencies throughout the US using Transit App is growing! If you reside in the Tampa Bay region, then you already know that several years ago, PSTA began endorsing the real-time transit arrival/prediction & trip planning tool. While I don’t use Transit App while within HART or PSTA territory (due to me being familiar enough with both systems to get around on my own), I do use it on occasion when visiting an area that I’m not familiar with.
HART (the Hillsborough Transit Authority) recently announced its intention to update its automated vehicle locator (AVL) systems & other related systems, as their current systems are outdated. As part of this update, the agency has formally announced that it will endorse the use of Transit App & will enable the app’s Royale subscription – which provides users with additional features & customized agency branding. PSTA has also been paying for its own Royale subscription in part through state grant funds.
