Bonjour!

Welcome to the city of lights!
Please take in the sights & sounds as you travel via transit!
Some Information & Photos in this section were provided by:
Furitokama
(You may see him on online transportation forums & Flickr as Minato or Minato ku).
Beno
(Please be advised that I do not condone some of the recent activities he’s taken part in – specifically train surfing. Train surfing is extremely dangerous & is illegal in many jurisdictions).
I had the opportunity to visit Paris back in 2009 & became immensely fascinated with the city’s public transit network! Residents & visitors alike can hop on one of 16 subway lines, 5 regional rail lines, 8 suburban rail lines, 11 light rail lines, over 30 urban bus lines (& numerous suburban bus lines), & can access multiple intercity train services stretching across Europe!

MAJOR AREA TRANSIT AGENCIES
RATP
The Régie autonome des transports parisiens (or as translated in English, the Parisian Autonomous Transport Administration) is the primary public transit operator in the city of Paris. The RATP operates the city’s bus, metro (subway), two regional rail lines, some tram (light rail) lines, & certain other modes. The agency also has several subsidiary organizations – including RATP Dev, which manages public transit systems outside of France (including some U.S. transit agencies).
IDF Mobilités
The Syndicat des transports d’Île-de-France, known as Île-de-France Mobilités is the regional governing body for public transit within the Île-de-France region. It oversees & coordinates the various transit agencies in the region, including the RATP, the SNCF Transilien (suburban/commuter rail network), & various private bus companies.
SNCF
The Société nationale des chemins de fer français is the national railway operator in France, operating the country’s intercity rail network, portions of the Parisian regional rail network, the suburban rail network, & railway networks in other French cities (whether in full or in partial). The SNCF is best known for its high-speed railway service, the TGV. Like the RATP, the SNCF also has/does business & contracts with transport systems outside of France.
