System Overview

The C.K. Steele Plaza in downtown Tallahassee.

StarMetro largely operates using a hub-spoke system, where buses originate out of a central hub – which in this case, is the C.K. Steele Plaza in downtown Tallahassee.

The C.K. Steele Plaza serves all StarMetro routes, except the L Route.

Most routes operate Monday through Saturday, with a few routes operating every 30 minutes & the rest hourly. There is limited evening & Sunday service with four routes operating hourly. StarMetro does not operate on major holidays such as Independence Day, Thanksgiving, or Christmas.

Vehicle Fleet

StarMetro primarily uses Gillig vehicles, with a small portion of the fleet being Proterra-built battery electrics. The agency has a total of about 71 fixed-route buses in the fleet, with a fleet of cutaway vans for paratransit & flex services. In the past, the agency has had GM New Look, GM RTS, New Flyer D40LF buses.
