Like many transit districts; HART operates on a hub-spoke system by which routes travel out of centralized transfer points. There are currently 2 full-service transit centers that include a staffed customer service window, along with 4 smaller hubs. Each of the 7 hubs include customer & staff restrooms, a bus operator break room, as well as vending machines & seating areas. Prior to the advent of Flamingo Fares, each facility also had ticket vending machines.
Major Transfer Centers

The Marion Street Transit Center (better known as just the Marion Transit Center or MTC) opened in 2001 to replace a not-so-pleasant bus transfer depot located underneath Interstate 275 called the Northern Terminal. Prior to the opening of the MTC, customers had to deal with water leaking from the viaduct overhead whenever it rained. In addition, the Northern Terminal had no restroom facilities, which served as a huge inconvenience for customers. With the Northern Terminal becoming quickly outdated by the mid 1990s, it was clear that HART had to find a new site to build a modern terminal. In the late 1990s, the Florida Department of Transportation announced that the downtown viaduct section of I-275 would be undergoing a major overhaul. As a result, HART eventually chose a site located along Marion & Morgan Streets, just south of Scott Street to build its new downtown bus terminal.
The Marion Transit Center happily sits on the northern end of the Marion Street Transitway, which was constructed during the 1980s. The MTC serves nearly 15 local and express routes (including PSTA’s 100X and 300X) and includes an array of amenities, including a customer service center, office space, & an array of public art displays. Until the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, there was also an on-site “grab-n-go” cafe called MTC2, which was operated in partnership with the MacDonald Training Center. In mid-2009, HART began installing television screens in select parts of the transit center to display real-time departure information. In 2023, the former cafe space was converted into the new ticketing office for Greyhound & Flixbus – as the legacy Greyhound terminal on Polk St in downtown Tampa has permanently closed in conjunction with the company’s ongoing efforts to sell its legacy properties.
The Marion Transit Center currently serves Routes 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 19, 30, & 275LX (Monday through Friday) at its main bus loading bays. The East Platform serves Route 360LX (Monday through Saturday). The North Platform serves Route 400 (MetroRapid) & Intercity Services (Greyhound, Flixbus, & RedCoach). The West Platform serves PSTA Routes 100X & 300X (Monday through Friday).

The Yukon Transfer Center currently serves Routes 14 & 16. Street-side connections are available to Route 1 along Florida Ave.

Located on the corner of Sheldon Road & Waters Ave, the Northwest Transfer Center replaced the makeshift bus depot at Hanley/Waters Plaza. Construction began in the spring of 2007 & was dedicated/opened to patrons July 29, 2008. The facility has 8 bus loading bays, though currently serving 5 local routes, & an adjacent park-n-ride lot.
The Northwest Transfer Center currently serves Routes 16, 30, 34, 39, & PSTA Route 812.

The West Tampa Transfer Center opened in 2007 as a replacement for a previous transfer operation at the former Tampa Bay Center mall. The facility has 5 bus loading bays, plus street-side stops along Himes Ave. The facility also has an layover pad that could be modified in the future for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) operations.
As part of the 2017 Mission MAX system optimization, the center was temporarily closed as routes shifted to Dale Mabry Hwy & MLK Blvd, where street-side transfers would be conducted. However, the center partially reopened in 2023 to allow Route 7 to properly originate & terminate.
The West Tampa Transfer Center currently serves Route 7, with Routes 32 & 45 utilizing the street-side stops along Himes Ave.

With the massive overhaul and expansion of the Tampa International Airport complex, a bus hub canopy & platform were constructed next to the new Rental Car Center. This facility is able to accommodate up to seven 40-foot buses at one time. Customers getting off at the hub to catch a flight can utilize an elevator bank at the northern end of the platform to transfer to SkyConnect trains to the main terminal complex. There is land situated just south of the Rental Car Center to accommodate light rail or commuter rail should Hillsborough & Pinellas Counties finally pass transportation sales tax referenda.
The TPA Airport Bus Hub currently serves Routes 10, 30, & 32, as well as PSTA Route 300X (Monday through Friday).
