Hernando County Transit, also known as Hernando Bus, or The Hernando Express Bus (THEbus) is the public transit agency serving Hernando County – including the county seat of Brooksville. The agency was established in 2002, with a private company providing limited tourist-based service & another providing paratransit van services prior to.

While the agency maintains 5 transfer points, all of which are basic transfer locations. Benches & a shelter may be provided.

Because this is a much smaller agency that what I normally cover in the GTG website, a condensed version of what I normally present.

Routes

Hernando Bus operates four fixed bus routes – all designated by color: The Red Route, the Purple Route, the Green Route, & the Blue Route. All routes operate Monday through Friday – generally from 5:00am until 7:00pm. Saturday service is provided, but with service typically starting slightly later &/or ending slightly earlier. There is no Sunday or Holiday Service (with exception to Juneteenth, Veterans Day, & Black Friday (day after Thanksgiving). Vehicle Fleet

Hernando Bus currently operates a small fleet of 29′ Gillig Low Floor clean diesel buses & a small fleet of cutaway vans. The agency does not posses an extensive number of vehicles due to its largely rural service area.
