November Transit Update

SCAT: From my understanding, the proposed SCAT express service to St. Pete has been put on hold until later in 2010. The agency is still awaiting an order of several motorcoach-style buses to use on the service. The proposed Tampa leg will not likely come online until 2011 or 2012, about the time the HART’s MetroRapid service goes online.

HART: HART enacted service changes on November 8 that eliminated Route 83 and merged it with Route 33. Route 36 was extended to North Lakeview, taking over from Route 33. The 36 will extend to the New St. Joseph’s Hospital North on January 17, 2010. Routes 1 and 2 were realligned to prep for MetroRapid service, and many other routes saw frequency changes. HARTflex is scheduled to begin in March 2010 in East and South Hillsborough County.

Thanksgiving Holiday Services: HART, PSTA, MCAT, and SCAT will not operate during Thanksgiving Day. On Friday, November 27, MCAT & SCAT will be on normal (Saturday) service, PSTA will be on Sunday-level service, and HART will be on Saturday-level service. Some routes may see additional buses or frequency due to Black Friday shopping. Express routes will not operate on Friday. All transit offices will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Hi there all,

I am posting again to introduce the new Tampa Bay Transit website. Here you can find information, history, and photos of the various transit agencies in Tampa Bay. It is actually an “inheritance” from an aquaintance of mine who originally started the site, but “handed the keys over” to me so that he may focus on other matters. Go check it out!

http://tampabaytransit2012.tripod.com/ was the original incarnation of my site. However, the interface was not too friendly for me, so I left the service in hopes of finding something that would be easier for me to use. Google Sites became version 2 of my site, and WordPress is now version 3. Much has changed since this post…yes?
